A Guide to the Geology of Islay was first published in 2015, with minor changes incorporated in the 2017 and 2021 updated editions. A fourth edition (2025) is now available; it is a substantive revision, incorporating new excursions.

A new Volume II was published in April 2021. It included four new excursions on Islay, plus 6 on Jura and 3 on Colonsay. It is now discontinued and has now been superseded in 2025 by two new Guides to the Geology of Jura and of Colonsay.
